Im rushing to complete my math portfolio now, and I kinda realised that I didnt really meet the goals / targets that I set for myself at the start of the year. It's embarrassing to say, like, however most of my objectives are not met, in the conclusion part. Sigh/

Let you ppl have a glimpse of what I wrote for my foreword. );
Foreword

Often during mathematics lessons, I will ponder over this question, why am I studying and memorizing formulas after formulas, equations after equations they make every single mathematic problem seems much more complicated! In this portfolio, I hope to cultivate a greater interest in mathematics, and to improve my standard of mathematics along the way.

However, firstly what exactly is mathematics? I would agree wholeheartedly with the renowned and prestigious scientist, Albert Einstein. He said that pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Therefore, it’s no wonder mathematics tie in very comfortably with the way things work, as it is truly logically-based. Hence, my objective for this portfolio would also be to inquire and investigate how some of the mathematic topics can be related to our daily lives and some of its applications as well.

Besides making a point to probe into the mathematic-related applications in real-life, I would also like to analyze the incorrect answers on my worksheets so as to find out my weaknesses. In order to improve on my mathematics, I must first identify where my imperfections lie. After rectifying my mistake, I will also do a follow-up plan or recommendations for improvement.

I fervently hope for at least 8 out of 10 marks for every quiz. Of course I must prepare well beforehand for it so as to ensure that I meet my required target. As for common tests and major exams, I hope for an A1 at least. All these come with perseverance and strong determination, and last but not least, abundant practices of mathematical problems.

To me, mathematics is an epitome of absolute. In language, we can say there is no such thing as right or wrong answer. However in mathematic questions, the answer to solve them must be very definite and exact. In other words, the only way to improve is to practice more. As the old saying goes, “practice makes perfect”, by practicing more mathematical problems I can not only be exposed to more genres of problems, but also to sharpen my mind.

Lastly, I hope bear in mind the target that I set for this year, and strive hard to achieve a significant improvement of my grades from last year’s. By means of consulting teachers, parents or taking personal initiative by doing more practice questions, I hope to clarify every doubts that I have regarding the mathematic topics taught, and not procrastinating over them till examinations start.
